Practice Gayatri Mantra at Sunrise in Newport, RI. Watch the video…

Amy begins her morning sadhana in Rhode Island with the Gayatri Mantra, a highly revered mantra found in the Rig Veda that has been chanted at sunrise for thousands of years. When we chant the Gayatri, we are welcoming the light–the rising sun, the light that shines from within, and the light we offer the world. “On this cloudy morning,” says Amy, there had been a number of losses and troubling events amongst my family and friends. When I chant the Gayatri on The Cliff Walk, no matter the internal and external weather, I am aware that the sun is rising. When I practice at dawn, I am awake to the light of the Divine, no matter what has clouded my vision the day before.” Amy Weintraub

Sanskrit words:
Om bhur bhuvah svah
tat-savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi
dhiyo yo nah prachodayat

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti

English Translation:
May our mind become one with All That Is which embodies and protects the vital spiritual energies, eliminates sufferings, embodies happiness and that which is (our) self-luminous divine brilliance and ultimate creative source; the best, most virtuous cleanser of all our imperfections and aggregation of all divine virtues and strengths who we pray to propel our mind on the divine-righteous path of spirituality and enlightenment.

All That Is Peace Peace Peace

Note: There are many, many different translations of the Gayatri Mantra. This is just one translation.
