SUMMARY:Psychotherapy Networker Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Amy leads TWO workshops this year.\nFirst\, Explore the integration of accessible yoga exercises with Internal Family Systems (IFS) in Yoga and IFS to Clear the Constrictions: Revealing Your Soul’s Purpose. This integration of accessible yoga exercises with Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a great way to work with your over-stressed parts\, to free your Self-energy to lead you through the rest of the Symposium and your life. \nThen\, on Saturday afternoon\, she’ll present the important When Mind-Body Practices Go Wrong: How to Match Clients to the Right Methods. Have you ever had a client try a mindfulness exercise that made them more anxious\, or get emotionally flooded when you asked them to breathe deeply? If you’re applying mind–body practices like pranayama breathing\, meditation\, mudras\, or mantras in your session\, it’s important to understand which practices are best suited to which conditions\, such as depression\, anxiety\, and disassociated states\, and what effects and possible abreactions these practices can evoke. You’ll discover how to: \n\n\nApply appropriate breathing and meditation practices based on your client’s presenting mood and diagnosis\nHelp clients learn breathing\, toning\, and hand-gesture practices to self-regulate between sessions\nIncorporate simple yoga skills like adapted breathing and meditations in clinical settings\, even when clients express cultural\, religious\, or personal resistance to practicing yoga\n\n\nAmy also leads daily morning yoga classes and afternoon meditations. \nAmy Weintraub\, MFA\, ERYT-500\, C-IAYT\, YACEP\nAmy Weintraub\, founder of the LifeForce Yoga® Healing Institute and author of the bestselling Yoga for Depression (Broadway Books\, 2004) and the ground-breaking Yoga Skills for Therapists: Effective Practices for Mood Management (W.W.
