Stair Step Breath

Stair Step Breath is one of the most utilized breaths in LifeForce Yoga. It is a way to connect with the breath when we feel disconnected from it, or even afraid of the breath. This practice is a gateway to other breathing techniques because we get to move slow. Stair Step Breath allows us to release constrictions around the breath at our own pace, instead of using a jackhammer approach to destroy; this can cause us to feel unstable.

There is a good reason for why we are not breathing deeply. Yoga trainings encourage working with individuals to deepen the breath when it seems stuck. It is a good idea to deepen the breath, we all need it. If our first experience with yoga breathing causes anxiety, emotional flooding, or brings all the sludge to the surface, it can be scary and make the breath harder to access. Through the experience of Stair Step, this breath builds length, depth, and energy.

Practice with Rose as she leads the Stair Step Breath practice using the script in Awakening Your Inner Radiance with LifeForce Yoga: Strategies for Coping with Stress, Depression, Anxiety, & Trauma. This is the perfect practice for when we feel lethargic, tired, or in need of a pick-me-up. Use first thing in the morning, or in the middle of the day. Other than not practicing on a full stomach, this breath can be practiced by anyone, anywhere.
