As part of a future photo story on yoga at Soul at Home in Tustin, I photographed students during meditation, the final segment of their Yoga Bootie Ballet class. Instructor Jessica Farelli slowly walked around the students ringing a singing bowl while they lay on the floor in a pose called Savasana. The situation proved extremely difficult due to the lack of light during the nighttime class.
In what appears to be the bright glow of a setting sun is actually dim parking lot lights illuminating the frosted windows of the studio. I was forced to use an ISO of 1000 on my digital camera and shoot at the very slow shutter speed of 1/25 second. As if on cue, a car in the parking lot turned it’s head lights on just as the instructor walked passed the window, providing me with just the right amount of additional light to make the picture. During the Yoga Bootie Ballet class I took 301 photos, this was the very last photo.
